Personal PDF Companion ("the Service") is operated by Alphaloom Limited, a company registered in Nigeria ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

What we collect

• Account information: your email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google) your Google profile picture.
• Documents you upload: your PDF files together with any extracted text needed to allow the assistant to answer questions about your documents.
• Conversations and generated content: chats, summaries, quizzes, flashcards, and other study materials generated from your uploaded documents.
• Usage information: message usage, quiz usage, summary usage, subscription status, and remaining plan limits.
• Payment information: transaction identifiers, payment status, and subscription records. We never store your full payment card or banking details.

Why we collect your information

We process your information in order to:

• Provide and maintain the Service.
• Authenticate your account.
• Store your uploaded documents and conversations.
• Generate AI-powered answers, summaries, quizzes, and flashcards.
• Manage subscriptions and enforce usage limits.
• Process payments.
• Improve the reliability, security, and performance of the Service.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We do not use your uploaded documents or conversations to train AI models.

Who we share your information with

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the Service. These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services.

• Google Firebase & Google Cloud Platform — authentication, database, cloud storage, hosting, and secure background processing of uploaded documents.
• OpenAI — processes portions of your uploaded documents and chat messages to generate embeddings and AI responses needed to answer your questions. We do not permit OpenAI to use our API data to train its models.
• Flutterwave — securely processes subscription payments. Your payment card information is handled directly by Flutterwave and is never stored by us.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the operation of the Service, including keeping you signed in, maintaining your session, and remembering your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.

International data transfers

Because our service providers operate globally, your information may be processed or stored outside Nigeria. Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for these transfers.

How we protect your information

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational security measures to help protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your uploaded documents, conversations, quizzes, summaries, and other generated content remain available until you delete them or request deletion of your account. Where legally required, certain payment or transaction records may be retained for compliance purposes.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or object to certain processing activities.

To exercise these rights, including requesting deletion of your account, contact us using the email address below. We aim to respond to verified requests within 30 days where reasonably practicable.

AI-generated content

AI-generated answers, summaries, quizzes, and other study materials are created from the documents you upload. While we strive for accuracy, AI responses may occasionally contain mistakes and should not replace your own review of the original document.

Children

Personal PDF Companion is not intended for children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
